Supporting your patients between sessions

Fracture Healing, operated by Inline Medical Inc., is a Canadian distributor of the Melmak LIPUS device. We have been working alongside rehabilitation professionals since 2004 to help patients recover from fractures and return to function.

LIPUS therapy can complement your treatment plan. The Melmak device is patient-administered, takes 20 minutes a day, and works comfortably alongside manual therapy, exercise prescription, and graded loading programs.

How LIPUS therapy supports rehabilitation

Bone healing and soft tissue rehabilitation happen on parallel timelines. While you focus on range of motion, strength, and functional return, the Melmak device works at the bone level to support healing of the fracture itself.

When to recommend Melmak to your patients

Patients with acute fractures

Evidence suggests that LIPUS may support faster healing in fresh fractures. Studies indicate an average healing time reduction of up to 38% compared to untreated fractures. This is dependent on fracture type and location.

Patients with delayed or non-union fractures

Approximately 10% of fractures result in delayed or non-union. For these patients, LIPUS offers a non-surgical option to consider before referral for revision surgery. Clinical evidence suggests LIPUS has supported healing in approximately 86% of non-union fractures studied.

Patients with conditions that affect bone healing

Patients living with diabetes, osteoporosis, obesity, a history of long-term steroid use, NSAID use, or smoking may benefit from LIPUS as an adjunct to standard rehabilitation.

Patients returning to high-demand activity

Active adults and weekend athletes who want to support their recovery and return to function may also be candidates for the device.

Exclusions: LIPUS therapy is not appropriate for fractures of the skull, jaw, vertebrae, or spine.

What your patients can expect

The Melmak device is designed for daily home use. Once a patient receives the device, our team walks them through setup. Treatment is 20 minutes once daily, applied directly over the fracture site. 

There are no clinic visits required and no supervision needed during treatment. The device has been used for over 20 years with no known side effects. 

This means your patients can stay focused on their rehabilitation appointments with you, while running their bone healing program independently at home. 

Recommending Melmak to your patients

If you have a patient who may benefit from LIPUS therapy, you can refer them to our team in a few different ways:

  • Email or call our team with the patient’s name, fracture type, and your contact details. We will reach out to the patient directly within one business day.
  • Direct the patient to fracturehealing.ca where they can complete our consultation request form.
  • Provide the patient with our phone number and have them contact us directly.

From there, our team handles eligibility, insurance coordination, and device delivery. You will receive confirmation once the patient has been set up and the device is on its way.

Getting the device to your patient

The Melmak device is available to patients across Canada. We offer free shipping on all rentals and purchases, and most patients receive their device within a few business days.

Our team handles all insurance coordination, patient setup, and ongoing support. Once a referral or recommendation is made, we take care of the rest so you can focus on your patient’s rehabilitation.
