Fractures we can help with.

The Melmak LIPUS device can support healing for a range of fracture types. Below is an overview of the most common fractures we work with. If your fracture is not listed, reach out to our team and we will discuss whether LIPUS therapy is appropriate for your situation.

Humerus and radius fractures

Fractures of the upper arm (humerus) and forearm (radius) are among the most common fractures seen in adults. These injuries can range from stable fractures managed with a cast to more complex breaks requiring surgical fixation.

The Melmak device may support bone healing in humerus and radius fractures, including cases where healing has been slow or has stalled.

Scaphoid, hand, and wrist fractures

Scaphoid fractures are particularly prone to delayed healing and non-union due to limited blood supply in this part of the wrist. Hand and wrist fractures are also common, particularly following a fall.

LIPUS therapy has been used to support healing in scaphoid and wrist fractures, including cases of delayed union.

Femur, tibia, and fibula fractures

Fractures of the thigh and lower leg can be significant injuries with lengthy recovery periods. Factors such as age, bone density, and overall health can affect how quickly these fractures heal.

The Melmak device may support the healing process for femur, tibia, and fibula fractures, and may be particularly helpful for patients whose healing is complicated by other health conditions.

Foot and ankle fractures

Foot and ankle fractures are common and can significantly affect mobility and independence. Recovery can take several months, and some fractures are more prone to delayed healing.

LIPUS therapy may support healing in foot and ankle fractures, helping patients return to walking and daily activity sooner.

Clavicle fractures

The clavicle (collarbone) is one of the most commonly broken bones, often caused by a fall or direct impact. Most clavicle fractures are managed without surgery, but healing can take several weeks to months.

The Melmak device may help support recovery in clavicle fractures and is compatible with standard cast and sling treatment.

Fractures that are not healing as expected

If your fracture is taking longer than expected to heal, or if your doctor has told you it is not healing, you are not alone. Approximately 10% of fractures result in delayed or non-union.

Clinical research suggests LIPUS therapy has supported healing in approximately 86% of non-union fractures studied. If you are in this situation, reach out to our team to discuss your options.
